The children were eager to present and share the books that they chose to read with their group members.

The creativity the added to the slides were very well executed. Not only were the graphics great, but the wording also brought these books to life for us.
Here, the students are continuing to read James and the Giant Peach. The students seem to be enjoying it and are always engaged in their reading.
4Z:
It is always nice to see the children engaged in their reading. Some of the children can't take their eyes off of the pages. They are so absorbed into the reading that they don't want to stop, even after time is up and they need to move on to their next class.
The children continue to answer the question of the day as they enter the classroom. They look forward to read what it will be. Many of them also share their answers. Some of these answers, spark some great conversations for the class to participate in.
During circle time, we talk about our feelings and many times the question of the day, is what our conversations get started on. The children enjoy talking about an experience, or an emotion, or even an idea that they can relate to. We all listen respectfully and wait for our turn if we have something to share. The children seem to find ways to solve problems, open up about an experience or even tell silly little stories. This is a great way to communicate with each other in a structured way and the children feel appreciated.
There is a lot of writing going on in ELA class. The pieces include telling about family customs and traditions during the holidays, the best presents they ever received, and special times they spend with their families. I love to see their faces light up as the write and share their pieces.
4Z:
Our #bookaday is growing. This past week we read books about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and a very special one to me, Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus.
The children look forward to this part of the day. They sit and place all the attention on the words that they hear. I LOVE reading aloud to them. Some even sit on the edge of their seats to see how the story ends or what happens to the main character.
Once I read, Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus, the children colored in a Believe meter. Once they finish them up, I will send them home with your child.
The 5th graders continue to read Crash in English class. They seem to be enjoying it and are very engaged in class.
