Two Weeks Packed Into One Blog Post

We had another productive and busy couple of weeks.

Wonders:

The children have completed week 5 of Unit 3 and have taken the Unit assessment this past week.

We read stories, worked in the Reading/Writing companion book and worked on Grammar.

We will begin Unit 4 this upcoming week.
Reveal Math-
We are finishing up Unit 6 in Math.  Multiplication is the focus, using partial products and estimation.  Our reviews and quizzes are showing us what the children know and where they may need some extra help.

The Kahoot game is always something that the children enjoy.

Group work is always a hit and the children like to figure out answers together.  We encourage discovering and making mistakes, as a way to learn.

Amplify Science:
We have moved onto our second unit titled Vision and Light.  We are learning about the Tokay gecko and how they survive in the rainforest.  The children are partnered up and are researching a particular animal from any rain forest around the world.  They will be presenting their slides once we are finished.

Social Studies:
The children are busy preparing for our International Night.  We are creating trifolds, a recipe book and we are going to work on travel brochures and acrostic poems this week.  They are working together and getting the tasks done.

Field Trip:
Everyone had a great time watching the Women PC basketball team play against Marquette.  Even though they did not win, everyone seemed to have enjoyed our field trip on Wednesday.

Morning Meetings:
Ms. Rhodan, has started up our morning meetings again.  The children meet on the rug and they greet one another, share out and do an activity.  It is great to start the day this way.  It gets them on track and in the right state of mind to get the day going.

Reading Buddies:
The children really look forward to seeing their reading Buddies on Friday and look forward to doing some activities with them.  We are working on International night with them, as well.  They are learning about Nigeria.  They read about it and write facts about what they have read.

i-Ready:
The children have taken the Winter Benchmark and have made great strides in growing many points since the Fall Benchmark.  We are celebrating our students and new charts are up.  Once we fill them with lessons passed at 100%, we will be treated to some type of a reward.
