We Are All "Booked"

We had yet another full week with so much going on in the classrooms.

Children are preparing for International Night.  They are putting together slide shows, making posters and researching famous landmarks for their writing piece.

In art class they have been working on mosaics of the famous landmarks.  It will be a great night of visiting classrooms all dedicated to particular countries.  We hope you will be able to join us.

They are all engaged and helping each other out.  Such determination and collaboration taking place.  Looking forward to the final  products.

We are also preparing for Reading Week. Our theme is Dr. Seuss and so many wonderful events and readers will be joining us throughout the week.  On Friday we had a kick off video which featured our 5th grade student council.  They put together a video which discussed what each day would be dedicated to.  Posters are being made and the room is starting to come together in preparation of our fun filled week.

Kudos to Mrs. Eastman, our librarian and our 5th grade student council for putting together this video and getting all of the students excited for the upcoming week.  We are all looking forward to this week.

Fifth Graders:

The fifth graders have begun their English project for Summit.  They are reading poems and will be writing their own for their final product.  They are learning about various poems, sonnets, free verse, to name a couple.  They are learning to add figurative language in their poetry.

They collaborate with one another and help each other out whenever possible.  Watching them become independent learners is amazing to see.  The conversations around their projects are productive and unique.

They use the learning commons and small group settings.

Sneak peek into what is coming up:
