As we begin to close out this month, we have been reflecting on having a growth mindset. Our discussions, activities, and some of the books that are read aloud bring up how important it is to have a positive mindset. Yes, there are bad days and things don't always go as planned, however, we look at those days as experiences to learn from and do better. Our morning meetings have become so much more beneficial, especially when we are having a bad start to the day. The morning meetings help us communicate and look at things differently so that our day can turn around and become more positive.
Informational Writing
This week we read all about Spiders from our Wonders book. The children are now working on google slides to present to the class. They chose a particular spider that they read about and researched it. They took notes, organized their writing and now are in the process of developing their presentations.
The children have been on task and focused. They help each other out, advise them on how to put it all together and show great effort as they continue with the assignment. It is wonderful to see and hear them helping out their classmates.
This week we will presenting them and we will be learning about the many different spiders. I am looking forward to see their final piece.
With the cold temperatures and snow that we have had, the children have indoor recess. It isn't as fun as being outside, but we make the best of it. The children like to draw/color, use their chromebooks and go onto Prodigy or ABCyay and sometimes play Quiet Ball. It is a time for them to have a break from the day's routine and socialize with one another.
Just a couple of reminders:
The childen must wear their masks at all times, except for snack and lunchtime. The children should be bringing in their water bottles. The room can get rather warm and many ask to go get water and that can sometimes take away from instruction time.
Also, we have noticed that many of the children are forgetting to do assignments that we send home to complete. We are asking that the children bring in planners, nothing fancy, even a small notebook, to write down the work that needs to be done.
As always, thank you for your continued support. We truly appreciate all that you do for your child. Hope you enjoy the rest of the day and stay warm.
