100 Days Smarter
On Tuesday we celebrated our 100th day of school. Children dressed as elderly people, or wore shirts with 100 items, they took part in fun 100 day activities and the staff had their elderly relatives come in.
It was a fun day for everyone. The children seemed excited and the faculty and staff had a great time too.
We had various stations set up in the room and the children chose where they wanted to go. There was writing involved, building, art work and so much more.
Author Study
The students are researching authors and will be completing a written report about the author they chose. These will be due on the 18th. The students are also working on Drama. They are creating skits and have performed one from the Wonders book.
Friendly Letters and Pen Pals
The students are so excited to receive their pen pal letters from children in other states. We have 4 different groups of students that we will be exchanging letters with. One group is from Nevada, another is located in Arizona, we have one in Utah and we will also be exchanging letters with a 4th grade class in Providence.
We are going over the parts of the friendly letter and things that they should write about to their pen pals.
Within the next few days we will be receiving the letters and the children will be able to write back. This will hopefully create wonderful friendships that will last a lifetime, or even for a brief time.
Upcoming Events
This upcoming week, we will be starting a Poetry Unit. Winter break is taking place the week of February 21st, and their Biography Book Project is due on the 28th.
March 2nd is Dr. Seuss' birthday and that day is filled with live streaming events, poetry, the Masked Reader and so much more. Stay tuned for another day planned by our Reading Specialist and Literarcy Team.
