Our week began with the presentations of the Bottle Book Projects. I was totally blown away when I saw all of them arrive on Monday. The details and effort that went into each one was AMAZING!!!
The children took such pride in them and could not wait to present them to their class.
Each one was unique in its own way. We have them all lined up outside of the classrooms for all to see.
There were actors, sports figures, performers, doctors, historical figures and so much more. Kudos to all the children who created them. They were so realistic and life like.
They did a nice job presenting them as well. They were well rehearsed about the person they read about and had no problems sharing what they knew to their classmates.
Read Across America Day/ Dr. Seuss' Birthday
Another great day was on Wednesday. The children and staff celebrated once again. This time it was for Dr. Seuss' birthday. The children took part in many virtual read alouds and activities. They had a day filled with creating town poems, making oobleck and just enjoying the day.
The day was great and it was wonderful to see all of the children taking part in the planned activities. Kudos to Ms. Gambardella (Reading Specialist 1) who organized all these wonderful events.
The students are creating town poems. They had to write a rhyming poem about a place in town. Lots of great places to go and see in this town. Some include fond memories, while other poems just discuss the actual place. We will be sharing these out throughout the week.
The week was productive and engaging at all times. The children's excitement showed in their work and actions. It was wonderful to see such positive things happening.
The excitement built up even more when the children received their letters from pen pals. They were thrilled to read the letters and write back to them.
Now they will be writing back to their pen pals and finding out about the state they are from and what they like and enjoy doing.
Excitement filled the room as soon as I told them that they were getting their letters. Our pen pals are from Arizona, Utah and Nevada.
4Z has also creating small skits to end the drama unit we worked on. Such great actors and directors throughout the classroom.
The week ahead is going to be another fun and engaging one for all of us. We are celebrating Reading Week with our theme being Be You!!
