It is hard to believe that we are already into the month of April. This year is going by very quickly but we are doing so much at SOS. We are transforming our classroom into a Spring time theme. The children are writing poems about Spring, they are enjoying the sunny days and are learning a lot. The month of March was Famous Women Month and the students researched a famous woman to research.
STAR TIME:
On Friday, we held star conferences with the students. We went over data such as their Lexia Units, their IXL Diagnostic score, days absent, zones of regulation, our star bucks total, and they created new goals for the month of April. I enjoy the one on one with them as we discover the progress they have made and where improvements need to be made. While I conferenced individually with them, the students worked on Must Dos and complete assignments. It was a great day and the children wanted to know where their gains were and what they need to improve on.
Wonders:
The children are continuing to work in Wonders. They are learning new vocabulary, new reading strategies and themes. The children also get to work together and digitally in Wonders.
RICAS:
This week, our 4th graders will be taking the ELA sessions of RICAS. We have been reviewing the tools, going over the RACE strategy and practicing with them on test taking skills and released items. Most, if not all, feel confident that they are well prepared and are going to give it 100%. We have discussed the use of scratch paper and making sure that their chromebooks are fully charged when they come in. They will take their time and review all their answers before submitting. The classrooms are going to hold raffles. The children will earn a star buck for having their chrome book fully charged, making good use of their scratch paper, spending at least 60 minutes on their test and making sure their check with the teacher before hitting the submit button. Their star bucks will be entered into the raffle for day 2 and will be able to win a special prize. We wish them all the best and encourage them to put in the effort and show what they have learned.
We are hoping for a smooth, productive session with our RICAS. Let's go students- give it your all..jpg)
