The Final Days

I think Mother Nature is a bit confused this weekend.  We had awesome weather during the week, but this weekend it feels like Fall.  Hopefully, the weather will warm up so that we can start enjoying the summer.  There are only 10 school days left.  Our last week of school is Spirit Week, and we have many fun activities to go along with each day.

Amplify Science-

We finished up chapter 4 this past week and we held a Kahoot review.  The children love Kahoot and answering questions, competing for 1st place.

Our current chapter is all about how humans' senses compare to animal senses.  They will be doing an experiment this coming week that involves the sense of sight, smell and hearing.

Wonders/Social Studies-

We are finishing up with Wonders.  The children are working on an expository piece of writing that combines reading and social studies.  They are researching a state in the US and will be putting together a slide presentation to show to their classmates throughout next week.

Reveal-

The children are continuing work on Fractions and we will be introducing Geometry this week.

The children use manipulatives and the UPS strategy to show and explain their work when they are working together in their groups.

Field Day-

The children enjoyed all the activities that were planned for our annual field day.  There was laughter, friendly competition and overall a good time had by all.  The highlight of the day was getting a chance to dunk Mr. Pacitto.  It was a fun filled day.

Kings of the Day-
This past week we had kings taking the reign throughout the day.

Lots of happy faces.

Summer Reading Assembly-
On Friday, two librarians from the North Providence Library spoke to the children about a summer reading incentive that they are holding.  They explained it all to the students and how it will run.  Most of the children seemed eager and excited.  Our goal is to get the children to continue reading throughout the summer.  I hope that they will take part in this contest.  If you have further questions please contact the local library.

Coming Up:
We will have our last spelling list this week.
We will continue working on Math, Science and Social Studies.
Our writing is all about Opinion writing and expository writing.
Spirit Week is June 12-16
