Oh What a Week!

This week was full of fun and activities.  The school held its annual Field Day.  There were many activities planned out and kept the students engaged.

The children went through obstacle courses and had relay races.

There was a lot of cooperating in order to get to the finish lines.  Some even got a little wet.

They even used various strategies and problem solving to get the task completed.
Some of the high school students came out to help with the various obstacle courses.  The children were treated to hot dogs and hamburgers, face painting and a martial arts demo.

Fourth graders took an historical walking tour of Centerdale.  Our tour guide gave us many wonderful and interesting facts about the town.  The children were wowed by some of the information they learned.
The children were ready to go.

We made a stop at Town Hall and Mayor Lombardi spoke to the children.

They even took turns sitting in the town council seats and asked questions.
The children enjoyed their day.

When we returned from our walk, they wrote opinion pieces about the experience.  They shared out what they liked most and least about the tour.
Our book a day is dwindling down.  There are only a few more to go before we reach 180.  The children have been enjoying the books that are read to them.

For the remainder to the school year, the children get to choose the book and share it out with their classmates.  They love to read aloud.  As an ELA teacher, this is what I enjoy about my job.  Watching the children read and write and having the love of reading and writing makes me smile.

Our Fifth Graders:
This past week we celebrated our fifth graders with a Moving Up ceremony.
This class is very special to us and we will miss them as they move up to middle school.

The countdown to the end of the school year has begun.  We have 7 days to go!! What a year it has been.  So many memories made to remember.
