The week got away from us. The students were so involved in their work, activities galore and learning was and is in full swing.
Grade 5:
The 5th graders were busy taking the ELA RICAS assessments for 2 days. We know that they gave it their all. Then they worked on posters for the remainder of the week. They had to research an animal from the tropical rainforest, find facts and draw pictures. The posters turned out great. Others chose to draw a map of all the tropical rainforests and locate them. A third selection was to draw out the layers of the tropical rainforest and include either animals or plants that grow there. They did a fantastic job, as you can see by the images.
Grade 4:
Our 4th graders were also engaged and busy in their learning. They continued to practice for their RICAS testing and had some time to do an egg-citing writing activity.
We also took a virtual tour of our State House. It wasn't the same as actually being there, however, the children were able to get a better understanding of how the State House works and what they do there.
The children were very attentive and answered many of the questions being asked. They also, asked many wonderful questions. Overall, our week was full and productive. There are always great things going on at Stephen Olney School. Learning, wondering and exploring are always part of our days.
