Happy 2023

 

It was wonderfu to see all the children after being out for our Holiday Break.  The children seemed excited to be back and see each other.  They had a chance to catch up while creating goals for the upcoming year.  There was laughter and conversations about what they did over their break.  It was great to hear all the positive things they did.  They created a wonderful display for the outside of our room.

Wonders

We jumped right into our Wonders curriculum with introducing the new vocabulary words and reading our anchor text.  The discussions were about how we can help our community.  The children got right into it as we discussed the vocabulary words and created meaningful sentences for each one.  

The children paired up together and read.  They discussed the story and answered questions.  They are summarizing the story and writing about the author's purpose.  

Social Studies:

We are going to be holding  International Night on February 16th.  It is a wonderful night celebrating the diverse cultures in our school.  Each classroom will represent a particular country that parents and children can visit.  The children are starting to prepare.  In our classroom, we are researching all about Portugal.  We have about 6 groups all in charge of a particular topic revolving around Portugal.  The children will be creating postures, flags, travel brochures and reports.  They are looking forward to the night and hope to see many of you that night.  For now, we are at the beginning phase of organizing and taking notes, having discussions and seeing what needs to get done.

Student of the Month Virtual Assembly

On Friday, Mr. Pacitto held the monthly virtual assembly.  We began with our new Character Trait for January which is Growth Mindset.  Then he announced all the students for the month of December and ended with reviewing our Star qualities that we should all be showing.  

Although it was a short week, we did so much.  It was good to see that the children were happy to be back and that they were all ready to learn and discover.  In Math we are working on Multiplication.  Our writing for this trimester is Informational Writing. We are wrapping up our Science unit about Electricity.  

 Our classroom is always filled with learning and great discussions about what we are learning.
