We started our week with RICAS Math Assessments. The children seemed well prepared and ready to go. They were given lots of motivation to keep them going and doing their best.
On the last day of testing we held a raffle in the classroom and then Mr. Pacitto drew a few names from all the 4th graders combined. During the test they would earn Star Bucks for having a fully charged chrome book, using scratch paper, taking at least 60 minutes working on the answers and checking in before submitting the answers. We had some great prizes to choose from. I chose 4 winners and we had 1 winner from our classroom who won a gift card.Wonders:
We finished up Unit 5 of Wonders. The children did partner and group work. They worked nicely in their Reading/Writing Companion book. They learned about the Jamestown settlement. We worked on summarizing and learning aobut the author's purpose in his writing.
Amplify Science:
In the past couple of weeks we have been reading about and learning how animal's eyes help them survive. They read together and discussed the importance of the eyes for survival. They created slides about an animal they chose and presented this project to the class over the past week.
Reveal Math:
We are also continuiing with work on Fractions. They collaboratively worked on solving problems and explaining their work. The conversations were wonderful to hear once they showed their work to their classmates. They work in stations to complete a task together.
As we enter our new week, there is still a lot going on in 4Z. We will be working on Opinion Writing this week. We will also get a Spring Benchmark for Aims Web and get their Reading Level for the end of the year. I cannot believe that we are already planning events for the end of the 2022/2023 school year. It has been a busy and fast year.
