Moving Right Along

We are acclimating and getting used to being back on a routine.  For me, this is taking a bit longer this time around.  This past summer was the one summer that I did a lot of lounging at the beginning and in mid-August, tried to get back on a schedule.  It is taking me a little bit longer, but am finally getting there.  We are in full swing in the classroom.  Wonders, Amplify Science and Reveal have all been started.  

Wonders:

We started Unit 1 in Wonders- it is all about how to react when a natural disaster occurs.  We read about Earthquakes this past week.  The children collaborate and discuss the essential question and work together to complete the reading writing companion pages.  

Math-

 

We have been reviewing math concepts and having discussions about Place Value and Multiplication.  Friday, the children worked on fluency with adding 3 digit numbers.  They took a Math Attitude Survey and worked collaboratly to help one another out in their group.

Science:

We discussed the Scientific Method and will start Amplify on Monday.  They glued the steps into their notebooks and watched a video on Friday.  We will discuss safety guidelines this week and begin with our first unit that deals with electricity and black outs.  This also ties in well with our Wonders Unit about natural disasters and what can happen during the storms.
