Busy Time of the Year

It has been very busy in 4Z.  The children are learning, and discovering new things with one anotherś  help.  We continue with the Wonders, Reveal and Amplify  Science curriculum.  We had many wonderful activities that the children took part in.  This blog is packed with pictures and information from the week before Thanksgiving, leading up to the 2 days before the break.  Hope everyone enjoys the blog and gets a glimpse of what we did.

Wonders:

The children continue to explore and collaborate with our Wonders curriculum. We have finished up Unit 2 with their assessment and will start on Unit 3 on Monday.  The are having discussions and helping one another daily with Reading/Writing companion book.  Answering questions after reading the story and learning new vocabulary words, each day.

Reveal Math:

Whether we are reviewing a lesson or doing i-Ready, the children are actively engaged in their learning.  The children love to come up and show how they get answers and being the ¨teacher¨  The active learning and helping each other out keeps the children engaged and accountable for their learning.
For one lesson, they worked in groups to find whether the numbers were prime or composite.

Parent Teacher Conferences:
The night went well and I met with almost all of the parents.  Although it was a long day for us, we were all feeling successful and glad to have met with most of the parents.  We were also treated to a coffee break from Maria Maria coffee from our PTO  and a boxed lunch from Daveś thanks to our union.
I hope you were able to see the Parent Expo that night which was put together by Mrs. Imondi.  It was a very informative night.

Cards for Hasbro Children Hospital Patients:
A student from the high school came to visit our classroom and as her senior project she had the children make cards for the patients at Hasbro´s.  The children made beautiful cards for the children.

New Signage:
The school department has ordered new signs for the schools to display.  Our foyer and gym doors are looking amazing.

Student of the Month:
The November Student of the Month virtual assembly took place on Friday.  The children are very excited to see who had been chosen.  The new character trait for December will be Empathy.  Some of the writing activities we will be working on will be around that trait.

Balloons over Broadway:
The children listened to the book and watched some of the Macyś Thanksgiving Day parade to get some ideas for their balloons/floats.  The balloons turned out amazing.  They first created/planned what it would look like.  The creations were out of this world.  The children enjoyed doing this activity.

Other Activities we did throughout the week:
The children created I Am Poems, Gratitude Trees and wrote thank you notes for people.  We also have a Gratitude Tree displayed with all the things that the children are grateful for.

Reading Buddies:
The children are developing great relationships with our Kindergartners in Mrs. Ricci´s classroom.  They look forward to going down and reading to them as well as doing some type of activity with the little ones.  It is great to see them interact with one another and helping them out.

What a week!  There was so much going on and the children did an  exceptional job.  Looking forward to seeing them all on Monday.

Heading into December- where is the time going?
