Falling Into Great Learning

Good Morning and welcome to another blog from 4Z.  It was another amazing week with lots of learning and growth.  The children are progressing right along and the connections they are making are wonderful.  The days are always filled with discoveries, knowledge and yes, even some fun moments.

Wonders:
We worked on yet another week of Wonders.  Children are collaborating, working on projects and discovering new things each day.  Take a look at what they did this past week.

They continue to help one another out in groups and work nicely independently.  We also learned more about Possessive Nouns.  The children also continue to work on i-Ready during Enrichment time.

The children finished up their compare and contrast venn diagrams and they came out great.  I am so pleased with the effort that they put into their work and presentations.

Math:
In Math we continue to work on Multiplication tables and patterns.  We are on Unit 5 now and are working on grouping, factors and multiples.

Social Studies:
We have been learning about the Native American tribes in RI and the children created wonderful slides.  This week we also read from our Scholastic News about the Native American tribes.

Events Throughout the Week:
Wednesday we celebrated World Kindness Day in the classroom.  I set up various activities to do along the day.  The children were given Kindness Challenges, an Acts of Kindness jar was set up, and they had to write what Kindness looks like to them.  They are a great group  of kids with kindness in their hearts at all times.

Books for Bingo:
Wednesday night we also held our annual Books for Bingo.  It was a great family event and a great turn out.  The children loved calling out Bingo and got to choose a book as their prize.  There were also door prizes given out.  It was a great night had by all.

Reading Buddies:
On Friday mornings the children go down to Kindergarten and we do an activity with the children, as well as, read to them.  The 4th graders love it.  They look forward to it each week.  They help the Kindergartens with many skills such as coloring, writing and cutting. They light up when they see the 4th graders coming in.

I am Not a Turkey:

The children did a great job disguising their turkeys.  I put the ones that came in up in the hallway and we are getting quite a reaction from the other classes that go by.  If you have others completed, please have your child send them in as soon as possible.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead.  Cannot wait to see what this week brings.  Looking forward to seeing many of you at Parent/Teacher Conferences.  If you signed up, you should have gotten a reminder from me.
