An Eventful Week

What an eventful and busy week.  We held our first Spirit Week, our 2nd Star Conference Day, the premier of our new School Store, and  oh and it was also Halloween.  To say it was a calm week, would be a great understatement.  However, the children were happy, the teachers enjoyed seeing them so happy and are also exhausted- at least I am.

Wonders:

The children are continuing with our genre of Drama.  We have read The Grasshopper and the Ants and were introduced to their latest vocabulary words.  They are working nicely together and researching to compare and contrast 2 animals.

They continue to work on i-Ready in Math and Reading.  They are to complete 45 minutes each week in both subjects.

Reveal Math:
We continue with Multiplication.  I have told the children that they need to be practicing with their tables.  Tomorrow I will start the multiplication challenge.  Each time they master the specific table they earn a sticker and progress to the next one.  When they have all mastered all the tables, they will be rewarded (reward to be determined).

Amplify Science:

We continue to read from It's All Energy and take notes about the different forms of energy converters  and insulators.

Social Studies:
We continue to learn about the various Native American tribes of RI.  The children are doing group research work and will present to the class what they learn.  They are at the beginning phase of research.  The children have been given their tribe, now they are taking notes from the articles they are finding.  The final product will be a slide presentation which they will present to the class, hopefully by the end of the week.

Halloween:

The children enjoyed the stations that I put together on Thursday.  They were able to visit at least 4 of the 6 stations that were set up around the room.  There was collaboration, independent work and great discussions.

Spirit Week:
Our first spirit week was a success.  The children enjoyed each day and their smiling faces proved it.  It is great to do something out of our everyday routine.  Even the faculty and staff had fun taking part in it.

Student of the Month:

On Friday we held our student of the month virtual assembly.  We are very proud of our October student of the month, Gabriella.  We were also introduced to our new character trait for the month of November- Gratitude.

No School on Tuesday:

Have a wonderful week ahead.
