This past week was another busy and productive one. The children are moving right along with our Wonders curriculum. We are finishing up with the first unit. Morning meetings continue with lots of participation and discussions.
Children enjoy coming to the rug and see what the day's poll is, the joke/riddle of the day and the video that they will be viewing. We have had some great ones like, Kid President and Tom Hanks, the animated ones from Disney Pixar and so many more great ones that give us a strong, positive message.
Reveal Math:
We are finished up with Unit 2 and are ready for the Unit Assessment this week. We have practiced in stations, reviewed the material and are ready for the next unit. It was great to see the children work together and help each other out. There is some great collaboration going on.
Station Rotation:
Stations are progressing along nicely. The children follow the routine as it is assigned on the screen and work with each other in each station to complete the task.
Amplify Science
The children were able to put together a simple system and now we are awaiting results. They had a solar panel, wires, fan and motor to put together and see what would happen. We are still working on tweaking some of the materials. The children love to come to the window sill to see if their system is working.
They have been making observations and jotting down what they observe. We still don't have a working one, but I am sure that they will figure it out.
Social Studies:Our RI Alphabet is coming along nicely. We made up a list of things that are unique to RI. Now the research begins on the letter they have and will put together a banner for our culminating activity. So excited to see how it turns out.
Recess:
We were able to get outside this past week to enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. The children loved it. They were laughing and playing and just had a great time being outside.
We are getting so much done and the children all seem engaged and on task. They are so enthusiastic and aim to please. What a wonderful year I am in for all thanks to this great group of kids who enjoy learning and are so polite.
