The week was filled with so much learning, discovery and wonderful conversations.
Amplify Science:
The children created their first simple system and simulation. The online component had then put together a system with various parts and if they did it correctly it would move. The same with the hands on experiment. They put the parts together, placed it in the sun and watched it spin. The aweness and smiles on their face were priceless.
Wonders:
We have completed Unit 1 and began the digital assessment. This will take them a few days to complete. The children pushed through and read passages, answered multiple choice questions and will work on the writing component coming up on Monday.
The children are creating books through the write read app. They were introduced to it on Friday and got right to it. They have started to write books on their chromebook through the app and share them with me. We will use this to create stories, turn into books and share them on the big screen. This will work nicely with our narratives, opinion, and informational pieces. It was great watching them so involved with this.
Math:
We continue with Reveal with Adding and Subtracting algorithms. The children do the problem of the day using the UPS strategy. They are eager to come up to the screen to show the process of UPS. We are also piloting Ellevations which the children access through clever to complete primers.
Morning Meetings:
The children love to share out the question of the day, love watching the video and taking part in the poll of the day. They all have such great responses related to the video and share out. Bagel is part of the meeting each time.
Social Studies:On Friday we finished our ABCs of RI and will be displaying it this week. The children dedicated their time and effort to put together this wonderful banner. The new things we are learning about RI is great. You can see how the information lights up their faces. Stay tuned for pictures displaying our RI banner.
Upcoming Events:
Our last week of October is our first spirit week. Our student council has put together some great ideas for all to take part in. Tuesday of that week will be dedicated to Career Day-district wide. We are looking forward to this week and hope to see a lot of school spirit.
Once again this year we are collecting for our Veterans. Each grade is assigned certain items to send in. If possible send your donations in by the 27th of this month.
