A to Zirilli: All in a Week's Work

The days are filled with excitement, work and lots of learning. We continue to work in Wonders for our Literacy Block. In Math we are finishing up Unit 5 of Reveal. With Social Studies we are learning about the government and the State House, and finally, we have started Unit 2 of Amplify Science titled Vision and Light.

Monday:

When the children entered the room they were surprised to see a letter from the Elf with a Kindness Challenge Calendar. Each morning we open up the door that goes along with the date and read what challenge we need to do for the day.

During our Morning Meetings we are learning about Holidays around the World. This also ties in with the social studies standard. So far we have learned about the USA and Germany.

We have begun Unit 3 in Wonders and read Aguinaldo and were introduced to the new vocabulary. The children have been using both the digital and hard copy of the textbook. Many great activities are on the platform along with completing pages in the Reading/Writing Companion Book.

Tuesday:

We had the NPPD present the winner of the Holiday Card for the district. It was an exciting morning as they made the announcement to the third grader.

We continue to receive post cards from various states and learn about their school, town/city and state. The children get excited to see who has written to us.

Wednesday:

The Elf came in and left another message for the students.

Thursday:

The children continued to work in Wonders about how children can help out in their community. They discussed different things we can do within our neighborhood to make it a better place to live. We read Aguinaldo and saw how the character changed from the beginning of the story to the end.

Friday:

We held station rotations and announce the student of the week. The children are getting so much better with transitioning from one station to the next and working with their groups to complete the task.
