It was another productive and fast week in 4Z. The days seem to be flying right by us. Our days are filled with lots of learning and conversations.
Wonders:
The children wrapped up Unit 5 with an Assessment and a group project. Each group chose an Era to research and present to the class. They really put some wonderful effort into their work and taught us more about the eras they researched. The collaboration and hard work can be seen in their posters and how they worked together to get it done.
RICAS Math Assessments:
2 days of the week were dedicated to our state testing. The children used their strategies to complete the 2 sessions. They took their time, used what they learned and provided the motivation and effort they needed. We are so proud of all their hard work.
Social Studies:
The children are continuing work on our state of Rhode Island. They have completed the RI ABC's and hopefully are moving onto the Scavenger Hunt that I sent home. Please let me know if their are any concerns with this family project. I told the children that they are to stay local and locate items either around the house, a trip to the library or Governor Notte Park. They can probably locate some information via the internet. I am looking forward to seeing their finished products.
Student of the Month Virtual Presentation:
On Friday, Mr. Pacitto held our monthly student of the month presentation. It is so nice to see the smiles when the children receive their certificates. Our new character trait for the month of May is Integrity. During the assembly, we are told who has the attendance trophy, (went to Ms. Silveira's class), we beat our last month's tally with Star Bucks and earned a reward which will take place on Friday.
Era Presentations:
On Friday, the children presented their posters to the class. They did such a fantastic job and it was great to see the collaboration and cooperation that took place.
Other Moments Captured Throughout the Week:
Coming Up:
We will be counting down to summer vacation with this fun activity. Each day, starting May 7th, we will dedicate a short amount of time to do an activity that starts with the letters of the alphabet. These activities will not take away from our days of learning. The activites are just a short, fun little project that we will include within our days.
Tomorrow starts Teacher Appreciation Week. We are so grateful for our jobs and being with the children throughout the school year. It makes us happy to see their smiling faces and their positive attitudes towards school.
