Adventures Inside the Classroom

It has been awhile since I was able to post again on my blog.  I was on medical leave for a little over a week, life has been a bit hectic and now I am going to start up the blog again for the next few weeks that we have left.  It is hard to believe that the 2024/2025 school year is coming to an end.  There have been many things going on, and here we are with about 4 weeks left in the school year.  This blog is not just a week´s work, but a combination of what has been going on in the classroom for a few weeks.

                                                 Testing:

The end of April and parts of May were dedicated to RICAS testing.  The children did their best and showed great effort in taking the state testing both in Language Arts and Math.  They gave it their all and now we wait for the results in the Fall.

The children recently took the i-Ready Diagnostic Benchmark in Reading and Math-results to be shared soon during our next Star Conference Day.

Teacher Appreciation Week:
The week of May 5th was dedicated to Teacher Appreciation.  I am so fortunate to work in such a wonderful school.  Each day the teachers were treated to something special.  One of the parents from our PTO organized a breakfast, raffles, coffee, a luncheon, desserts and oh so much more.  I am beyond grateful and blessed to work with such fantastic educators and to have the families that we have at SOS.  We sure are lucky.  I even won a raffle.

Saying Goodbye to our Student Teacher:
Unfortunately, I was unable to be in the classroom when the children had to say goodbye to Ms. Rhoden.  She was an added bonus to the classroom this year.  Her efforts and unwavering motivation kept the children engaged and on task.  They built a nice relationship with her and wish her all the best.

Live Wax Museum:
The children did a fantastic job with this year´s wax museum.  The children created tri-folds, speeches and presented them in character.  I was so impressed with each one of the students.

Our ABC Summer Countdown:
We began counting down to the end of the school year and onto summer.  Each day, for the 26 days left, is dedicated to a letter of the alphabet.  The children seem to be enjoying each of the days.  We have gone through letters A-G so far.

                                                                       Talent Show:
Our Annual Talent Show took place on Friday night.  This was the first year that I was unable to attend due to a previous commitment.  I heard it was fantastic and that each act was wonderful.  Mrs. Fullerton and Mrs. Sanchez always do such a great job.  Kudos to each of the acts.

Mental Health Awareness Month:
This week, May 21st is a day dedicated to mental awareness.  The social workers have put together some great activities for the children to take part in.  We are asking that on Wednesday, we all wear green.  Looking forward to flooding SOS with Green.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend.  Here is to another week dedicated to the alphabet and getting through more of the curriculum.  Our next big event is Field Day coming up at the end of the month.  Donations are needed so please donate if you can.
