Our Week was productive and the children are progressing nicely. The week flew by and was packed with discoveries and engaging activities.
Monday:
We started with a new week of Unit 5. The children were introduced to the new story and vocabulary words. They discussed the essential question and all that was part of this new week. Collaborating and completing assignments was part of their routine.
Tuesday:
The day progressed nicely as they continued with Wonders and in Math they are learning all about perpendicular and parallel lines.
Wednesday:
In Science they are continuing to learn more about fossils and how they were formed. Ms.Browne is doing a great job with this and continues to keep the children engaged with this topic. It is one that many seem to be enjoying.
They paired up to do some reading on Fossils and the interactions and conversations were great to hear.
In Math they continued to learn about angles and lines. It is great to have the children come up and show what they know. Learning happens all across the room, from small groups, to whole group to making discoveries and sharing them out.
Thursday:
We were so involved with our learning that I did not get a chance to pick up my phone to take pictures. However, I will discuss the Wax Museum in this section. The children should have brought home the packet, explaining what this project involves. On Friday, the graphic organizer was due. They all choose a famous Rhode Islander at the end of March and have to research that particular person. We will work on the written report and speech in school, as well as, at home. The children are responsible for putting together a tri-fold display board. All instructions are in the packet. There is also a checklist included with all the due dates. Please make sure that you are checking with your child. The packets should have been shown to you.
Please reach out with any questions or concerns regarding this project. They will be presenting in school on May 14th.
Friday:
We continued pretty much with what we were doing all week long. The children continued reading and working from Wonders. They did some more work in Science and i-Ready.
Some worked on research of their RI person and finally, some earned some Fun Friday time. The students who did not have any work to complete from the week took part in a game of Blooket and some played board games, colored/drew or read quietly in a spot of their choosing.
