Counting it Down to Summer

Our Summer Countdown continues until we get to the letter Z on the last day of school.  This week we had some pretty interesting days as we made it through another packed week.
The children got to take part in a dance party throughout the day.  At first not many wanted to participate but as they saw classmates dancing, many took part.

On Tuesday it was all about the Exercise breaks.  Throughout the day, the children broke into exercises like jumping jacks and push ups.

On Wednesday the children wrote about their favorite color.

Thursday was all about Gratitude Day.  The children wrote letters to who they were grateful for.  Some of the students wrote to friends in school, some wrote to teachers. It was so satisfying to see them take the time to write some nice words to one another.

I even received a few that brought tears to my eyes.

Friday was hat day.  Some of the children wore silly or favorite hats throughout the day.  It was such a busy day that I was not able to take a picture of the children.  We had an practice evacuation drill and the day kept us busy with many other things.

Monday:
Our week started like any other week with Wonders.  We were introduced to the new story, essential question and grammar.  The children work as a group and sometimes individually to get the work completed.
Tuesday :
It was pretty much the same as we are working on our RI ABC's and Science project about an Earth's feature.  The children are writing reports and researching a project about a landform they are interested in learning more about.

Wednesday:
More of Wonders work took place and we reviewed from our Unit 11 in Math.  It is great to see the children work together and explain how they got their answer.  Some of the children had to present their natural disaster slide show.

Thursday:
Collaboration is the name of the game and we see lots of it in the classroom.  The children reviewed Unit 11 in Reveal Math and helped one another figure out the answers to the math questions.

Friday:
This day was such a busy day, that I did not get much of an opportunity to take pictures.  We started our day with an evacuation drill.  The children did a fantastic job and know exactly where to go and what to do.  Once we got back to the school we had art class then it was time for our Spelling test.  The day flew.

The afternoon took us into more of a math review and some of the students were able to take part in Fun Friday.
Oh by the way, through all of this it was also Mental Health Spirit Week which was put together by our social workers and school psychologists.  Here are some pictures of what they did.  The 4th graders did not get to see the therapy dog or take part in the mental health fair-which is being rescheduled for us for the upcoming week.
They also got to wear green and dress as someone that inspires them.  Again, I was not able to capture those pictures.  Thank you to Ms. Armstrong and Mrs. Gentile for putting this all together for us.

Within the past few weeks, we were asking for donations for our Veterans.  There were many donations made.  Thank you to all the families throughout the school who sent in toothpaste, white socks and deodorant for our local veterans.

Looking forward to another fun filled week ahead.
