To say it was a great week would be an understatement! The PTO went above and beyond to make sure the teacher's were very much appreciated. Monday started with a fantastic breakfast. Tuesday (Cinco de Mayo) brought us Baja's and Eat BBQ deliciousness. On Wednesday we were treated to Jersey Mike's, but wait there's more. Thursday we had a gelato bar and on Friday, Maria Maria coffee cart came to SOS. That was just the food and treats. We were also treated to some goodies left in our mailboxes and raffles each day. Thank you so much for their generosity and making us all feel so special.
Monday:
Our week began with reviewing for our Wonders Unit Assessment and we continued the day with working on speeches and timelines for our Wax Museum.
The day also continued with practice for the Math session 2 of Ricas. We did a digital online practice run.
The day started with the RICAS Math assessment. The children showed great effort and took their time.
The rest of the day was about research work on a How To paragraph the children were working on.
They also worked on thank you notes for the nurse in preparation for Nurse's Day on Wednesday. The children adore her and love to go see Mrs. Poirier for a band aid. Those make everything all better.
Wednesday:
On Wednesday we picked up with our Wonders review and back to our Math lessons. The children enjoy coming up to the board and show what they know. It is great to see them actively engaged in the lessons and explaining the work to the others.
The children know exactly what to do when they enter and get right to the morning work. It is wonderful to see them actively engaged and on task. They are focused and start off the day with writing prompts, word of the day and spelling work.
I get a slide ready each morning so they know what to get to right from the start. They help one another out and make sure they have everything they need to get started.
Friday:
Today was a day to finalize the week's work. They finished up the Unit Assessment for Wonders, online. They took a spelling and vocabulary test. Some finalized the last part of the Wax museum, time lines and practiced their speech in front of their classmates. Then they were able to take part in Fun Friday and go shopping in the dojo shop with their points.
On Friday's if they have completed the work for the week, they are able to participate in Fun Friday. They love a good competition on Blooket, so for the most part, that is what they do. The others that do not have that option, use that time to work on incomplete assignments. We usually do this at 2:30. The children really look forward to it and stay very engaged and focused.
Upcoming Events:
What a spectacular and busy week it was. We are down to the last few weeks of school. It is hard to believe that we are almost done with the school year. I am planning our 4th grade ABC summer countdown which will start on Wednesday. Each day is dedicated to some fun activities. Print out will be coming home.
We will be having the Live Wax Museum on Thursday afternoon for all the classrooms to come and visit. This will be a great event for the children to shine and show what they learned. Starting Monday, they can begin to bring in their tri-fold, if it is done. I am going to have them present their entire project to me on Wednesday in the classroom. They do not need to be in costume for that day. Thursday is when they will become the statues and come to life.
Lastly, I would like to wish all the moms, stepmoms, aunts and grandmothers a very Happy Mother's Day! Enjoy your very special day.
