A Week in Review

Fall is in the air and the children haven fallen into a nice routine.  We are moving along and getting things done in Room 232.  There is never a moment in the room, where we aren´t doing something.  Whether it is group work, independent work or whole group, we are moving along and progressing.  This week was no exception.  Throughout the week, we have been learning, growing and discovering.

Monday:

We began the week with a new Wonders topic and moved right along.  The children worked on vocabulary, the essential question and the story about Kids in Business.  It was great to read about the young entrepreneurs and what they have accomplished.

In Math we are continuing work with adding and subtracting.  The subtracting with regrouping is a bit tricky for some, but I think they are finally getting it.

Tuesday:

We continued with Wonders and discussed the stories we read.  The children collaborate with one another to complete the reading/writing companion book pages.

At any given time, we are always collaborating on stories, or helping out other classmates.  It is great to watch the students help one another in an effort to get the work done.  We are really a great group showing one another how to do something and even during indoor recess, I loved watching them play games and laugh.

Wednesday:

We finally were able to get back to Science with Electrical Systems and how they work.  The children partnered up and read Systems to learn and discover more about how the systems in their homes work.

Thursday:

As the week progressed, the children worked on many assignments.  We were able to present the first project of the year- Places in North Providence.  It was great to see how the children researched and put together a slide presentation.  It is a work in progress, and the children will be experts with presentations by the end of 4th grade.

They also continued with Math and group work in Wonders.  During our Intervention Block I generally take up a couple of groups to work on some topics both in Reading and Math while others work on i-Ready minutes/lessons.

Friday:
We ended the week much like how we began the week.  Working on assignments, taking the spelling test and group work.  The children seem to be doing a nice job with group work and helping out one another.

Our evacuation drill on Friday was done very nicely.  The children followed the path and stayed together to get to our destination.  We caught a very nice day and we were able to enjoy the crisp air as we walked over.  They did an exceptional job of following the rules, staying on the path and not being disruptive.  They were focused and on task.

There will be more work with i-Ready minutes/lessons.
There is a PTO meeting on Tuesday night at 6:00-virtual
On Friday we will have Breakfast for those students who completed their summer packets and returned their permission slips.
Hope you will join us for Trunk or Treat on the 24th
Enjoy your weekend!!!  See everyone on Tuesday.
