Fall Is All Around Us

The air is crisp, the days are getting shorter, but we are still moving along nicely.
We had another successful week.  The children are in a routine, procedures are coming along and the children know what is expected of them.
Personal Narratives:
We have finished our personal narratives.  The children worked on hooks, drafts, and conclusions.  They peer edited and made revisions, now it is my turn to read them.

Our next writing piece will be writing an opinion.  We will begin that during the upcoming week.

Reveal Math

We began Unit 3 all about adding and subtracting algorithms.  We are learning about partial sums and differences.  We even had a lesson taught by Mrs. Graziano, our Math coach for the district.

Wonders:
We completed another week in Wonders.  The children read Experts, Incorporated and Stop Bullying.  Our essential question was- How can your actions affect others?  We had some great conversations around this question and the children understand that what we do to others can either have a positive or negative effect.

Morning Routine:
When the children enter the room each morning, there is a slide up for them to know what the day ahead will involve.  They wait to be called by a table to put things away in their locker.  The seat work usually involves some time of spelling or writing assignments.  During this time I take attendance and take lunch orders.

Our PTO will be selling smencils and smens.  The PTO is trying to raise money for our students.  The money raised during our fund raisers are going towards busses for field trips, assemblies and field day.

Please make sure you check your child ´ s take home folder for all the important handouts and information.  If your child has graded papers in there, please keep them home.  Forms that need to be filled in also will be found there.  I do go around and see that there are things in there that should either be filled in or left at home.  Thank you and have a great rest of the weekend.
