A to Zirilli: Falling Into Place in 4Z

Hello and Happy Sunday. The weekends just seem to fly by. We had another busy week and lots of learning.

Monday:

The week began with Wonders as we began Week 3 Unit 2. We review the essential question, get new spelling words and work in our Reading/Writing Companion book.

Tuesday:

We continued with Wonders and collaborated in our groups. The children enjoy working together and discussing prompts from the Reading/Writing Companion book. There is a lot of engagement and discussions.

During our Intervention Block the children are working on i-Ready minutes, in small groups or completing assignments from the morning.

On Tuesday the children also attended an assembly in the afternoon. This was a fun event. They listened to drummers and some even participated in the playing of the pail drums.

Wednesday:

The children are doing research for their writing piece. They chose 2 animals and will compare and contrast in a slide presentation.

Our social workers came in on Wednesday and did a great lesson on Empathy. The children had a quick lesson on what it is and then got to play a Kahoot game to review the lesson.

Thursday/Friday:

We have been moving right along in our morning routine. We start with the Word of the Day and then they have some time to work on their Writing Prompt for the day, and their spelling assignment which is on their morning slide.

We continued to work on their writing assignment.

We also had a Kahoot review for Social Studies.

We had a tremendous week of learning and discovering. I sent home a family project about disguising the turkey. I hope to get many/all back so we can display them outside of our classroom. We have also adopted one of the flower boxes outside and are planning to keep it up with seasonal decor. On Friday we wrote what we are thankful for on pumpkin seeds and will have them displayed inside the pumpkin. Below you can see what the 3rd graders have created.
