Autumn Days in 4Z

I cannot believe we are heading into November.  Where has the time gone?  It feels like just yesterday we were ending our summer break and now we are heading into the holidays.  Nevertheless, we are being productive and getting through the days/months.

Monday:

We started the week off as heroes and villains.  Many participated in dressing up as either a hero or a villain.  It was great to see all the participation and excitement.

The children worked on the final part of their Opinion Pieces and we began a new week in Wonders.

Tuesday:
We started our 2nd day of spirit week with Team Sports Tuesday.  We have many sports fans in the classroom.

We also continued work in our Math Unit of multiplication and division comparisons.  We are moving right along with Reveal and the children are grasping the concept.

I  enjoy hearing the conversations they have as they are working together and helping one another out with math problems and strategies.

Wednesday:

We continued Spirit Week with Western Wednesday.  We had many wearing  flannel and cowboy attire.  The children seemed to have enjoyed the different themes of the day.

The children have also been doing research on various spiders to go along with the story they read in Wonders.  Eight facts were written on the eight legs of the spider.  The children were able to choose the spider they wanted and read an article about it and took notes.

The children are continuing to work both independently and collaborating with one another.

Pumpkins also went home if they created a pumpkin for the Library.  They did a fantastic job again this year with the amazing creativity of the pumpkins.

The children continued to work on Math and discovered a new website for Math games during our Intervention Block.  I continue to work with small groups during this time and many work on i-Ready minutes.

Thursday:

Through the Decades was the theme for this day.  It was great to see both faculty and staff to be dressed as they were during the 70´s, 80´s, 90´s and current day.

The children continued to work in all areas.  We were so involved in our learning that I was not able to take pictures, but they did continue to work on their Spider research, reading from Wonders and continuing with Science and Math.

Friday:

Children and faculty and staff were very festive on Friday.  There were all sorts of characters walking throughout the school.

We also held the student of the month virtual assembly.  The children always get excited to hear who it will be and who got the best attendance award.

We held Star Conferences and the children were all able to set goals for the month of November.  We discussed our Star qualities and worked on assignments that they were given while I met with the students.  They have a new writing piece which they also started about Comparing and Contrasting animals.

It was a great day overall.  I hope all who celebrate Halloween had a fun night trick or treating.
We ended our day with a Halloween Kahoot.

Our final Spider Facts wall is also complete.

Have a great Sunday.  Looking forward to another fantastic week ahead.
