Fostering a Love of Learning and Growing

This upcoming week is all about our 3rd Spirit Week and preparing for our RICAS Pep Rally.

Our themes for each day have to do with Motivating and Testing Mode.  The past week was a fast one and this blog will keep you informed with what we did.

Monday:

We began our Wonders Week 5 and are continuing with collaborating and working together in our Reading/Writing Companion book with a focus on Narrative Poems.

In Science we began reading about Animal Senses.  The children seem to be enjoying it and continue to learn how animals use their senses to survive in their environment.

In Math the children are learning to add and subtract mixed numbers.  Using manipulatives is helping them grasp the idea and are able to visualize the concept.

Continued to prepare for our International Night and worked on i-Ready minutes and lessons passed.

Tuesday:
Our day started with Presentations of Historical Events.  The children presented their slides to the class.  It was great seeing the final outcomes.

We continued to work in our Reading/Writing Companion book reviewing the poems and vocabulary for the week.

The children continue to work collaboratively and with partners to complete the assignments.

The  work also continued on Bolivia with group projects getting finalized and the birds of Bolivia ready to be displayed.

Wednesday:
The children are finishing up the Vision and Light unit in Science.  They do a lot of whole group and small group assignments.  They read together and then work in their workbooks to complete activities.

Thursday:
As the children continued to work in Wonders, we were also finalizing our projects for International Night, which was a hit once again this year.

International Night:
The night was a great success.  We had many families come visit all the countries.  The children started us off in the gym, singing being led by Mr. Berger.   Then they went all through the classes to visit various countries and getting stamps in their passports.

The night progressed nicely and was well attended.  The children were excited to display their hard work and show their families all they had done.

Important Events coming up:
Penny Wars starts tomorrow and continues until Friday.  This is such a competitive activity and the children all want to win-  Winning class will silly string Mr. Pacitto after our Pep Rally on Friday.

The Krispy Kreme fundraiser is also taking place- don´t forget to place those orders.

Our first annual Yard Sale is taking place on May 16th.  If interested, please submit the form to reserve your table.

Lots of fun things going on in the next few weeks, along with the annual Talent Show.  Mrs. Fullerton and Mrs. Sanchez have been running rehearsals and is sure to be a great time.
