It was a whammy of a week. We were just getting off of Winter Break and we got walloped with the Blizzard of 2026. I was not expecting the week to go the way it did, but we were able to get 3 distance leaning days in, a true snow day on Tuesday and in person on Friday. On Sunday night, I did a lot of preparing to see the children on google meets for Monday. We were all preparing lessons and activities to do with the children. All in all, I think we had a productive week and the children did a great job participating.
Monday:
My chrome book was set, coffee ready and the beginning of the week was ready to be started. We were just coming off of winter break and this was not the way I had planned on greeting the children. We held our google meet first thing in the morning. The wind was howling, lights were flickering on and off and the snow was coming down. We made it through our first day. The children met up with us and we were able to start our week with Wonders and Reveal. Not the ideal way, but we made it through.
Tuesday- A true old fashioned Snow Day
The call came in on Monday telling us it was a snow day and no virtual learning. I have not had one of those since before Covid so it was a bit of a treat. I am sure the children also enjoyed experiencing the day off.
Wednesday:
Back at it for a virtual learning day. The children did great. The expectations were set, the lessons were ready and learning was taking place again on line.
We weren´t heading out anytime soon due to the clean up that had to take place. I am sure that roads and parking lots needed to be cleared so onto distance learning.
Thursday:
It was onto distance learning again. I really wanted to get back into the building but we were told that it was virtual learning again. The children knew the routine; showed up for google meets in the morning and worked independently for the afternoon. Teachers were available for the children to meet with their teachers if they were in need of help.
Friday:Our books for the month are on display and hope that the children get to enjoy them. I cannot believe that we have started the month of March. There is a lot happening this month so stay tuned for what´s to come.
I am looking forward to returning to a ¨normal¨ week of school. Our new month has started and I am so over the snow. I am looking forward to warmer days and sunny, bright days ahead. On March 6th we are celebrating, along with the district, Read Across the District Day. There will be guest and mystery readers throughout the day. Lots of activities have been planned by our Reading Specialist. I am looking forward to that. Hope you are all safe and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
