Hopefully, Spring is here and we can get some warmer, sunny days ahead. It has been great having the kids go outside for recess when the weather permits. They are finally able to get some fresh air and interact socially with each other. This is something we all need now that the dreadful winter is behind us.
Monday:
We started the week with our new Wonders Unit and we made inspirational posters for the 5th graders as they began their RICAS testing in ELA. There were lots of great conversations heard and our participation rate is going well.
Within groups the children discuss the essential question, go over vocabulary in their Reading/Writing Companion book and read stories that go along with our unit. This week it was a Drop of Water
The children love to come up to the board and show the class how they figured out a math problem. They show what they know.
Tuesday:
More of Wonders continued as they worked in the Reading/Writing Companion books with their group. Wonderful discussion took place and even small group work was seen throughout the day.
We had a student nurse come in to present us with a nutrition lesson. The children seemed engaged and had a lot to share.
Wednesday:
We are continuing to learn about geometric shapes in Math. They are learning the various terms for this chapter.
Thursday:
The children seem to be enjoying the new story- A Drop of Water and we are seeing lots of hands go up to add to the discussions around this story. In Science, Ms. Browne is doing a great job teaching the children about fossils. They just love to hear the stories and add to the conversations during the lesson.
On Thursday night, if you have purchased your tickets, the school families will be able to attend the Spring Fling at Chelo´s on Post Road. It will be a great time and great food with music and dancing. There will also be a photographer there.
