Minds in Motion

Another week got away from us.  The weeks are going so fast.  We are very busy in the classroom and this week will be too.  We are getting ready for the Live Wax Museum, Spirit Week and a Pep Rally all this week.  The children have been working hard to put together their trifolds, speeches and written reports for this great event taking place on Thursday.  We are so excited to show off their great work.

Wonders:

We began Unit 5 this past week and the children are working on new vocabulary words and in their reading/writing companion books to complete assignments.

The children listen to the stories, work in their groups and complete writing right from their reading/writing companion book.  In grammar we are learning about Adjectives and the digital component of Wonders is something we work in throughout our literacy block.

Pi Day:

On the 14th we celebrated Pi Day.  We learned what it meant and watched a video as part of our Morning Meeting.

Reading Buddies:

On Friday, we will be reading to our Kindergarteners.  This is going to be a great experience for all of us.  The 4th graders got to know their buddies and read to them.  There were smiles all around.

Upcoming Events:

Tomorrow starts our third Spirit Week of the year.  It is all revolved around RICAS testing as the 3rd-5th graders prepare for the state assessment.

We are looking forward to a week of fun!

Penny Wars:
Our school-wide Penny Wars are continuing until Thursday.  The children are so invested in this event.  They look forward to put pennies into the other grade levels, while collecting the silver coins and dollars into our bucket.  This is a very competitive challenge for all of them.
Here are the standings as of Friday:

Hope everyone has a great week!
