Minds in Motion

This blog is coming to you after a day filled with eating, celebrating and enjoying time with family.  We had a wonderful day and now preparing for the week ahead.  On Tuesday, there will be no School.  Teachers and staff are going to be attending workshops/meetings within our school and district.  We also will take the ELA sessions of RICAS on Wednesday and Thursday.  Hope the children get a good night's sleep, have a hearty breakfast and are ready to take on both sessions.  We have practiced and looked at released items and should be prepared to do their best and put what they know to good use.

Wonders/ Writing:

Children read Mama, I'll Give You the World from their anthology and continued to work in their reading/writing companion workbook.  The children have begun work on Opinion Writing which is what we will work on throughout this last trimester.  We are also working on Articles and Adjectives.

They continue to work independently and in groups on various assignments.  They are doing a group research project on an informational topic they chose.  The final project will be done as a slide presentation and they will show what they learned on Friday.

Reveal Math:

We just finished up Unit 9 with an assessment they took on Friday.  This upcoming week, we will begin Unit 10; Adding and Subtracting with Mixed Numbers.  The digital component consists of videos and games that they are going to work on this week.  The hands on manipulatives (fraction strips) come in handy when learning and comparing fractions.

In Person Student of the Month Assembly:
We had a busy day on Friday.  We had Star Conference time, an assembly for our students of the Month for March, attendance and introducing our new Star Bucks.  It was such a busy but productive day.  The proud students were happy to see their awards and hear their names as they received perfect attendance, improvement in attendance and learned about our new Star Bucks that will be used.  I was able to meet with each student to discuss their progress as far as IXL Diagnostic Tests, Progress Monitoring results in Aims Web and creating new goals for the month of April.

Upcoming Events:

We will start RICAS testing on Wednesday and Thursday (ELA sessions).  We ask that your child get to school on time so that we are ready to start as soon as we take attendance and lunch count.  Please make sure they also have a book to read in the event that they finish early.  They should get a good night sleep and eat a good breakfast.

No School on Tuesday- Teachers and staff have a professional development day.

Parent/ Teacher Basketball Game is taking place Thursday night at the High School

Friday- our Students of the Month for March will take part in a celebration

Have a great week ahead!
