Blossoming Minds

Mr. Steve has been out for a few months and we finally have him back.  We are so happy that he is back with us at SOS.  We had another great week and so much happening that the week just flew by.  The children continue to learn and grow and show great effort in what they do.

Monday:

We started our week with Wonders and began the review for our Unit 4 Assessment.  The children continued with Reveal Math and all about fractions.  The routines are down but sometimes, they need to be reminded of what to do.

There has been a lot of emphasis on group work and conversations around how to solve problems in math and showing their work.

Tuesday:
The focus for the day was to continue work on Interviews and also on Science- Animals Using their Senses.  They read and took notes on the book and will be taking a test later on this upcoming week.

We continue working on i-Ready each morning and they try to improve their lessons passed.  The chart for Math is completed and so they have earned a reward.  We will discuss and vote on what they would like.

Wednesday:

The children did a lot of reviewing for Wonders and Math.  They also continued to work on their Interviews and i-Ready.  The engagement and determination is evident in the work that they produce.  They continue to work on task and stay on top of what they need to complete.

Thursday:

It was a big review day for Math.  The children practiced the test on paper in preparation for the digital version of Friday.  They once again were on task, focused and helping one another with how they found the answers.

Friday: Pi Day

The children went to Kindergarten to work with their Reading Buddies.  They truly enjoy seeing them each week and helping them.  This week's activity was what they were lucky to have.

The children also read to them once they finished the activity.  We discussed Pi Day and worked on the many assessments that  were planned for the day.

They did a nice job on researching a woman for National Women's Month.

Other Happenings throughout the Week:

The first rehearsal took place for our annual Talent Show.  We have many talented students that will be performing.

I also started the Lucky Duck student of the day.  A child gets chosen each day based on work and behavior.  Once they become a lucky duck they are my helper for the day.

The Penny Wars is starting on Monday.  The buckets are all set up.

We have also been busy with various projects around the room.  The children are making wishes on shammrocks, writing perseverance quotes and continuing to do research for the Live Wax Museum.  It sure is a busy time.

Monday starts our 3rd Spirit Week of the year.

PTO is holding its annual Spring Fling.  There is still time to buy your tickets!!

It looks like the weather is getting nicer, hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.
