Mindful Moments in the Classroom

Good Morning - it was another week of learning and growing and so much more.  We had a very busy week with finalizing for our International Night and everything else in between.  The children are continuing to show effort, put in the work and complete assignments.

Monday:

Our morning meetings continue to bring the class together and build community.  It is a great start to our days and gets the children ready for the day ahead.  We also continued with Wonders as the children continue to read stories, collaborate and participate in great conversations.

We are also continuing to get our room set up for International Night.  Acrostic poems, research of Bolivia and door decorating are all ready to display.

The children continue to work on i-Ready to pass lessons for our reward chart.

Tuesday:
There was still more work to do for International Night and the children take multiplication quizzes during Math time.  If they pass the certain quiz, they move onto the next table for the following week.

The room is coming together with all the things about Bolivia.  The children are working hard to get all the work completed for Thursday night.

Wednesday:
The grammar lessons have been moving along nicely with Pronouns as our topic.  The meetings in the mornings are filled with greetings, sharing out and activities before they dive into their work and the children worked on travel brochures and more decorating.

We also learned more about Bolivia as we watched a video about places to visit there.  The children seemed intrigued with the landmarks, tourist spots and lay out of Bolivia.

Thursday:
The day has arrived for our big event- International Night!  I am so pleased with all the work the children put into it and it showed in the final products.  The room was prepared and waiting for our families to arrive.

The children really did such a fantastic job researching, locating information and producing tri folds, travel brochures and writings about Bolivia.

Friday:

What a week it was.  International Night was a great hit, and Star Conferences and student of the month assembly were on the agenda for today.

The children filled in a Padlet as part of their independent work on Friday during our Star Conference time.

The children worked on biography reports for over a month.  They were to create replicas of the person they read about.  I was AMAZED at the awesomeness that they put together.  I am super impressed with all the effort.   They are being displayed outside of our classroom for all to view.  I have gotten so many compliments from teachers and other students throughout the school.

Coming up this week:
We will celebrate world read aloud day on Wednesday.  There are middle schoolers coming in to read to the children.  Mr. Pacitto will read to them and we have an author coming in.  It will be a fun and busy day.  I am looking forward to it.

Our new character trait for March is Perseverance
This times in nicely with our RICAS coming up soon.  Never giving up and keep on trying!!
