Perseverance

Another fantastic week is in the books.  The children shopped at the Book Fair, we had a visit from a wonderful RI author-Scott Joblonski, middle schoolers also came to read to us and the children now know who they will research and become for our Live Wax Museum.  All in a week's work and also covered the daily curriculum requirements.  Our work is never done and the children continue to persevere through it all.

Monday:

The week began with finishing up presentations about Government leaders.  The morning meetings are also a fun way to start the days and we worked in Wonders learning about poems and we even created our own for the classroom.

We began Week 5 of Unit 4 in Wonders and were introduced to fractions in Math.

Tuesday:

Work continued in the Reading/Writing Companion books.  The children read poems and analyzed them for theme.  Pictionary was one of the activities for this week's morning meeting and we (4Z) won the trophy for having the highest attendance in our grade.

In Science the children did an experiment involving their senses to try and figure out what was inside the canisters.

Wednesday:

This day was dedicated to Read Across the District.  The children first listened to the story Trying read to us by Mr. Pacitto.  They walked in to find a special treat (to enjoy at home while reading).  Two former students of mine came in to read to them and we had a RI author read to us.  It was a great day.

Our very own Mrs. Eastman(librarian) set up her library to hold a Book Tasting Event.  Children were able to sample various books and rate them.

Thursday:

The children are going to be conducting interviews.  They were to choose a community member, come up with 10 questions to ask them, contact that person and have them answer the questions they came up with.  I cannot wait to hear their experience and see the final product.

Friday:
Work continued on the interview questions.  This is being done with partners.  We also put up perseverance quotes on our character trait tree and I introduced Lucky Duck student to  them.  Our custodian, Mr. Steve, has been out of work for awhile and we will finally welcome him back on Monday.  The entire school body is excited to have him back.

It was another eventful week.  The children are so involved in all of the tasks at hand.  The month is flying by.  We are pushing through and building relationships, creating memories and enjoying one another's friendships.  I hope that you all enjoy seeing what your child is doing throughout the week. I enjoy bringing you this blog every week and want you to know how much pleasure I get in seeing your child learn, interact with others and continue to progress every single day.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
