Fostering a Love of Learning and Growing

What a week!  We had our 3rd Spirit Week and a Pep Rally to kick off RICAS testing!  The children participated in the week's scheduled Spirit Days and the 5th Grade Council Members put on a great Pep Rally for our 2nd-5th graders.

Monday-

We started the week with it being St. Patrick's Day and we had to wear green or a lucky charm.  The classroom was overflowing with the color green.  A little leprechaun left lucky coins for the students.

Tuesday-

The children were able to wear their thinking hats.  They continued to work on i-Ready and Wonders.  They learned more about Fractions and continue to work on their Live Wax Museum research.

                                   Wednesday-

The room was filled with the children wearing red showing that they are red-dy for RICAS.  They continued to work in Wonders and in their groups as they read.

They played a game of Kahoot to review for Science and read from the Scholastic News within their groups.

                                          Thursday-

The children were comfy and cozy in their sweatshirts and hoodies.  They continued to get through the day's work.  We are pushing a long with Wonders and they continue to persevere in Math.

                                       Friday-

Today was a very exciting day, not only did we have our RICAS pep rally but Mr. Pacitto was duct taped to the wall by the 3rd graders who won the Penny Wars.  It was a fun filled day, full of excitement and fun.  It was a great way to end the week.

We had some excited children when they got to see Mr. Pacitto being taped to the wall.

Penny  Wars-
Everyday, the children from every classroom were so excited to fill the buckets with coins.  The anticipation of waiting to see who was in the lead was evident all around the school.  Everyone was buzzing and scrambling to get pennies into the other classes buckets.

We were close by the 19th, but somehow, the 3rd graders took the lead and knocked us out of the running by Friday.

By Friday afternoon, I was exhausted.  The children had a great week.  Healthy competition is always fun, but it was tiring to collect the coins, direct the Pep Rally and on top of it all make sure they were learning the material/curriculum that was planned.  It is always fun to see the children enjoying their days in school.

Hoping that warmer weather is on its way and that the kids can enjoy some outside time during recess.
